In November 2014 the old church roof was completely replaced at a total cost to our community of £130,000. This was the first time the roof was replaced since our church was built back in 1850. The old roof tiles were falling and endangering human lives. Unfortunately, this cost was not covered by any grants or funds from the local council or even insurance. The roof tiles had to be replaced like for like, as insisted upon by the local council. They are all hand made, hence the huge cost, which was paid for with a bank loan.
Commemorative Plaque
A commemorative plaque has been created to mark this milestone in our church history. We would like to thank everybody who donated to our roof appeal, whether through a personal donation or participation in one of our events. We would also like to thank those who helped by purchasing raffle tickets. The church belongs to all of us and this is an achievement we should all be proud of.
The commemorative plaque is on the back wall on the right hand side as you enter the church from the main entrance.
